The QST-5 is designed to test many popular sensors used in automotive applications. The tester independently powers the sensors under test therefore it can be used both inside and outside the vehicle. Sensors that can be checked with the QST-5:

  • Crankshaft and camshaft sensors,
  • ABS sensors,
  • Speed sensors,
  • Temperature sensors (thermistors),
  • Fuel/oil pressure sensors,
  • Throttle position sensors, EGR, Turbines;
  • Gas pedal position sensors,
  • MAP and turbo sensors,
  • Knock combustion sensors,
  • Clutch/brake pedal sensors,
  • DPF/FAP differential pressure sensors

QST-5 sensor tester

QST-5 sensor tester

With the QST-5, sensor testing is convenient and easy. The sensor is connected using three numbered terminals. The device can automatically indicate the variant of the sensor under test (e.g., inductive or Hall) and provide the pinout. The user can then conduct a functional test by examining its response under various test conditions.

Advantages of the device:

  • Quick and safe sensor test even without knowing the leads,
  • Easy to use: it is perfect for novice users,
  • Integrated measurement of electrical parameters R, L, C.

In addition, it is possible to download an application for Android (smartphones, tablets), which allows you to remotely read the measurement screens and add sensors along with their parameters and an optional photo to the database.

QST-5 – FAQ

I lost my software CD. How can I get the firmware update tool?

The program for updating the device can be downloaded after prior registration and logging in to our website: https://dte.com.pl/en/my-data/.

Where can I find the QST-5 application for phone / tablet?

Only the Android app is available. The application can be downloaded after prior registration and logging in to our website: https://dte.com.pl/en/my-data/.

Can I test sensors powered by 12V ?

The QST-5 tester supplies the tested sensors with 5V. It is one of the elements of protection against possible damage to the sensor by the tester. Very often, the tester is able to correctly test sensors such as crankshaft or camshaft sensors, supplied with originally higher voltage. In most cases, these sensors operate in a much wider range and it is related to their construction. There may be sensors that actually require higher voltage to function, but account for a smaller proportion of the total. Similarly, most ABS sensors in the circuits are powered by higher voltage, but their mode of operation (current output) make them work properly when powered from QST-5.

Can I test a oxygen sensor or MAF?

The device works only with sensors that require power from the ECU with low current and voltage. Elements such as the oxygen sensor or the MAF flow meter have heating elements, supplied with higher current with on-board voltage. Elements of this type cannot be powered by the tester (do not connect external voltages in parallel to the tested elements due to the risk of damage).

Does the application contain a database with reference values?

The QST-5 application has a database of measurement results to which the user can save his results with an given annotation. This database can be used by the user to diagnose similar sensors in the future. The software does not provide information about the parameters of individual sensors.

Where can I get tips on how to diagnose specific sensors?

The guide on the methods of testing typical sensors with the QST-5 tester is available for download after prior registration and logging in to our website: https://dte.com.pl/en/my-data/.
