The RPT-5 device is used to perform independent, parallel pressure measurement of storage tank fuel systems such as Common Rail (Diesel) and GDI/FSI (Gasoline). In addition to the pressure value, the tester also diagnoses the sensor’s power supply. An additional advantage is the ability to automatically recognize the sensor’s lead arrangement, useful especially when using needle probes.

The device can be used to test injection systems:

  • passenger cars,
  • trucks and buses,
  • tractors and agricultural machinery,
  • construction machinery,
  • generators.

In addition to reading pressure values, the tester also allows recording pressure waveforms in two modes:

  • Pressure trend – a slow-variable pressure waveform, showing the response of the system to varying operating conditions,
  • Pressure pulsation – a fast-varying waveform showing the rapid pressure fluctuations associated with the operation of injectors and the CR pump.

In addition, it is possible to download an Android application that allows remote reading of measured values. In this way, you can view the waveforms in higher resolution, gaining the ability to save and later read the data on a mobile device.

In the case of slow-variable waveforms (100 samples/s), it is possible to record continuous waveforms for up to a dozen minutes or more, which offers unique diagnostic possibilities.

For a complete check of the sensor indication on the rail, we offer an optional external sensor cable for the selected system. It allows you to take measurements with an additional sensor (you need your own sensor along with a hydraulic connector). An additional external sensor is powered by the tester and operates completely independently. It can be used to take all measurements, and a comparison mode doubling for simultaneous readings of both sensors is also available.

Technical parameters:

  • Voltage measurement: 0..7V
  • Measurement accuracy: 1%
  • External sensor power supply (optional): 5V DC, 50mA
  • Power supply: built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery
  • Operating time: approx. 8 hours on a full charge

RPT-5 – FAQ

Where can I find the RPT-5 application for my phone / tablet?

Only the Android app is available. The application can be downloaded after prior registration and logging in to our website: https://dte.com.pl/en/my-data/.

Which value of the pressure sensor range to choose?

When selecting the range of the pressure sensor, you can follow the pressure values available in the technical documentation of the sensor. If no such data is available, the pressure can be estimated based on the generation of the Common Rail system. Approximately the first generation (around 2000) had 150MPa sensors, the second generation (2001-2007) increased the range to 180MPa, the third generation (around 2008-2014) required 200MPa sensors, and the current fourth generation is based on sensors with a range of 250MPa (given values are estimates and may vary depending on the manufacturer and system variant).

When testing the signal from the sensor, how can I be sure that the sensor is good?

By reading the voltage value from the sensor and converting it into pressure, we rely on its accuracy and reliability of the pressure range established. RPT-5 offers the possibility of verifying the sensor indications by comparative measurement. In this way, you can attach a second, reference sensor to the system and connect it to the RPT-5 using an optional cable. In this way, the tester will power an additional sensor and will allow for the simultaneous measurement and comparison of both sensors.

Can I test sensors other than pressure sensors?

The tester can be used to test other sensors with a 5V supply and voltage output. When testing other sensors, set the unit to ‘voltage’ to get the raw value from the tested sensor.
