The flow meter can work with a PC or laptop by communicating with it via USB. The computer program allows you to observe flow charts and define and execute test plans.

After the test is completed, you can print a report showing the technical condition of the tested injectors.

The IFM-8 is an independent flow meter and therefore works with all injector test stands and equipment.

The IFM-8 is suitable for testing common rail injectors, pump injectors and other injectors used in diesel engines.

The IFM-8 flowmeter also works great for testing and adjusting in-line injection pumps by allowing a continuous reading of the flow rate for a selected number of injections, such as ml/200 injections.

What makes the IFM-8 flow meter different from traditional menzies?

The flow meter differs from menzies in its method of measurement. The operation of the menzies is to collect the right amount of fuel over a longer period of time – a simple method, but also slow, labor-intensive and often inaccurate. IFM-8 measures fuel flow. Recording the number of injections at the same time, it calculates the amount of fuel per, say, 200 injections without having to wait and count down the number of injections actually. From the beginning of the measurement it is possible to read the amount of fuel per minute, hour or selected number of injections. Of course, for greater accuracy, you can average the values collected over several seconds.

Menzies need to be thoroughly emptied after each single test and cleaned or replaced periodically. The IFM-8 flow meter is devoid of these drawbacks, and requires more attention only when connecting a set of injectors. In this situation, you need to run the injector test for a while and wait for the tubes to fill with oil and remove unwanted air. After filling the lines with fuel, the device can show the measured values right after the test starts. It is only necessary to wait a few seconds for the flow to stabilize. In a short period of time, measurements can be repeated for one set of injectors with different test parameters – changing the rail pressure and injection time. This makes working with the IFM-8 flowmeter faster and cleaner than using a conventional set of menzies.

According to the measurement standards for the injection apparatus, the temperature of the fuel (calibration oil) on the bench is to be 40°C +/- 2°C. However, the fuel entering the flow meter should have a temperature of no more than 40°C. For maximum accuracy, the recommended temperature is 20-30 °C. Such measurement conditions are found in most diagnostic tables from reputable manufacturers. If necessary, use fuel coolers before entering the unit.

Failure to ensure even, stable flow or to maintain temperature limits leads to incorrect readings.
